There's also the fact that, if the book is already a runaway success, it doesn't need me to read it, so I can go off and read someone who does need it. Up the workers, etc.

Maybe I will read it again, but it'll be after all the fuss has died down. If it ever does.

And by the way, I'm not saying it's a bad book, I'm just saying I didn't believe in it. But I'm in very literal mood at the moment. For instance, I saw the movie The Secret Life of Bees during the week, at the start of which a four-year-old girl picks up what I'm pretty sure was a revolver and accidentally shoots her mother dead. Now, I have four-year-old nieces, and I know how heavy a revolver is, and how difficult it is to kill someone with a single shot, especially with a revolver, which tends to fire up and to the right. So straight away I felt the story was bogus.

The Big Question: Should I let that kind of thing slide? Or is everyone okay with wrist-watches in Ben Hur?

Cheers, DecDeclan Burkehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14322645323239292406noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4938060587020568315.post-19071372686385320592008-11-29T11:36:00.000+00:002008-11-29T11:36:00.000+00:00Well, honestly. He's our house god, and is hardly ever wrong.

Modesty Blaise! What is it with you men? She's an anorexic murderous autist (probably) with an attitude. Read it again.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4938060587020568315.post-84986959679769952008-11-29T11:35:00.000+00:002008-11-29T11:35:00.000+00:00Re TGWTDT I think the reason given for Vanger choo...Re TGWTDT I think the reason given for Vanger choosing Blomqvist is that they both hate Wennerstrom. Also the information Vanger has about Wennerstrom will keep Blomqvist working hard at finding out what happened to Harriet when he is not bedding every woman in sight..

I certainly don't subscribe to the view TGWTDT is a modern classic but am hoping the next one in the series The Girl who played with Fire will be a lot better.
